Spent The Weekend Relaxing...

I have been so busy with my Etsy shop this month with all the new listings and all the new things yet to be pictured and listed that I figured I owed myself some relaxation time. So I found some great digi's last week and I spent the weekend relaxing and coloring them in! I think my most favorite part to making cards is coloring in the images that I will be using on them, whether they are hand stamped or from digi's! But this part also takes the longest, specially since I have been using this new Gamsol technique I found out about.

Before using the Gamsol, I was using markers, watercolor, or regular colored pencils and I just was not getting the results I wanted. To achieve the nice soft blending effect on the images without having to do alot of work I found out all you need is some wax-based colored pencils, Gamsol which is a liquid blender and paper blending stumps. I use PrismaColor pencils because they come in lots of beautiful pigmented colors and lay down smooth, and for the Gamsol I use Mona Lisa. For the blending stumps you will also need something to sand them down so that you can use them with different colors. You can find all these items at Michaels!

And if you're not sure yourself on how to go about trying the technique, just google "Gamsol Technique" and you will find lots of tutorials to help you out. You can find videos on YouTube too if you're more a visual learner like I am!

Here are some of the images I had fun coloring in this weekend...

The adorable little fairy I colored in there is a digi stamp I purchase awhile back from Tiddly Inks. And the other ones are free digi stamps I found searching the net! There are lots of wonderful artists on the net that offer some of their digi's for free, you just have to find them! The ones pictured here are from; Dustin Pike, Sj's Little Musings and Bodil's Scrappeverden. Just be sure to leave them a nice thank you when you grab their free digi's! :D

Sketch Saturday Challenge #107...Last Weeks (Late)!

I found another great challenge blog this week along with the others I participated in! I'm posting this one a little late, for some reason I thought I would have more time to enter my card in last weeks challenge on Sketch Saturday. But I wasn't able to take my pics until today. This was a bit of a challenging sketch...also the reason for being late...lol.

But here is my card...I decided to flip the sketch on it's side and get back to my routes with an adorable square card! Enjoy! :D

PAPERS: DCWV patterned paper and textured cardstock
IMAGE & SENTIMENT: Digi stamp Dragon graduation from Dustin Pike, "Congratulations" sentiment stamp from Studio G.
INK: Colorbox; black pigment.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Plastic buttons, black string, stickles glitter glue and dew drops.

Works In Progress...-NEW Bracelets!!

I've been keeping myself busy for the last couple of weeks with a bunch of beading projects that turned into beautiful bracelets, earrings and some charms too! Since I have been so preoccupied by my beads...lol...I originally planned to start on some cards this weekend and join in on some fun challenges to give my paper supplies and Cuttlebug some attention too! Well my plans changed when I received the lovely gemstone beads in the mail that I just recently traded for with a fellow Etsian! I don't know about my fellow jewelry makers, but when I get new beads I absolutely have to do something with them or I can't rest until I have a plan for them..lol!

I got some beautiful Pink Moonstone and Russian Serpentine rounds...they are a bit smaller than I thought they were going to be, so it took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to use them for. Then I remembered that I had been wanting to make cute fringe bracelets with this thin soldered chain I got awhile back and knew the small rounds would be perfect for a petite fringe bracelet!

So instead of making cards this week I decided to make my fringe bracelets instead which took up alot of my time. I think each bracelet eventually ended up taking me about 4-5 hours a piece to make, because I love the look of completed and secured wire wrapped beads...and since the chain was soldered I had to wrap each one of the little beads to the links. I also added some Swarovski crystals to give them a little bit of sparkle!

I'm thinking of calling this one with the Pink Moonstone beads and Vintage Rose Swarovski crystals "Bubblegum Fringe"...

And here is the other one with the Russian Serpentine beads...I hadn't yet finished this one when Hubby snapped the pictures...he thought it was a good idea for me to start showing my work. I also added a little more sparkle to this one with Smoky Quartz Czech glass crystals and Swarovski crystals.

I will most likely call this one "Serpentine Fringe"...

I haven't taken the final pictures for these yet, so I will probably have these listed for sale in the shop by the end of the week! I'm thinking of making some matching earrings to go along with them too...remember to keep an eye out, so you don't miss them!

Etsy Featured Seller: NatBears

I want to mention a wonderful shop I came across while participating in my Etsy Trade Teams events! I had the pleasure of trading with Nat from NatBears not once but twice! Nat is an amazing polymer clay artist that offers the cutest polymer clay figurines and beads in her shop. She mostly specializes in polymer clay bears but she has other figures too like adorable kittens and pigs! She offers her figurines in miniatures and in full size. And the little details featured on every one of them, like the flowers and butterflies are made from her very own handmade polymer clay canes! And not only is Nat a very talented artist, she is the nicest and friendliest Etsy seller you'll ever meet!

Here are the absolutely adorable figurines I was able to snatch up in our trades...

One of them is a cute little miniture pig that I got for my aunt because she likes pigs and the other is a full sized angel bear that I got for my Grandma because she collects bears!

Here are a couple of the items available in her shop...

So next time you're browsing through Etsy and looking for a special gift, be sure to stop by Nat's shop! Oh and I should mention her prices are very reasonable too!
